Original oil painting on abs board. 38”w x 24” h (unframed). Painted by Skye with love xxoo.

In my original oil painting "Cracked" the goddess figure represents her transformational power as both giver and taker of life who suggests all things must change and die. The nude goddess represents that change is eternal. The goddess is curling up in a fetal position. Her hands are gently cupping towards her heart—the metaphorical center of life force energy, and a symbol of both love and the goddess. The apple in the painting is symbolic of the emotions of the heart including, lust, love, and sensuality. It is historically known as the fruit of love. For me, it represents life given and taken through our bodies. The cracked desert and mountains in the painting represent our beautiful earth in transition. I think of my many psychological and physical transitions through out my lifetime as mini births and deaths. Even during orgasm I experience a little death. In French, the term for orgasm is "la petite mort", a popular way of describing the experience of orgasm as blacking out and a spiritual release. My painting represents my greatest fear of dying, and at the same time, the nude body of the goddess, the apple and nature represents my greatest hope and joy of being alive. My body and my life in-the-moment experience is all I actually have. When health fails, the physical body dies. In the process of making "Cracked" the creative acts of painting this returned me to healing answers including: “Am I a body? A mind? A thought?” Namaste. xxoo
