Long Beach 3/85

After 6 weeks in  So Cal, a touch of homesickness for the East Coast  had set in, and TS being in Long  Beach was a godsend.  After my trying unsuccessfully for weeks to win tickets to this  concert, my sister Debbie gave me tickets for the show.  I was overjoyed! My best  friend, Cathy, a new mom at the time, was glad to have a night out.

Imagine how  crushed I was when between I-405 traffic & bad directions, we entered the arena just  in time to hear the last chorus of "SMF."   Suicide was briefly considered.

Yeah, Iron Maiden  was good; but dammit, I felt Dee-prived and Dee-jected!

This show was a gift, and has a great story  behind it... (the Animal is a generous guy :-)  but I'll be damned if we didn't end  up getting there so late we saw EXACTLY the same thing as 3 days earlier.

The only thing that saved me from a psychotic  episode were the backstage passes that came with the tickets.  I may not have gotten  to see the show, but I got to hang out backstage, where I met the guys for a momentary  handshake & "Hey."  Not Dee, of course... because the Fates are  sadistic, I think.

We ended up partying with a bunch of people  at the hotel, where I met AJ again, and talked to him for a bit.  Bless his heart, he  surprised me by saying he'd arrange for tickets & passes to a San Diego show a week  later.  That was the beginning of a friendship that meant quite a lot to me, but that's a story for another time...  Heh!   "Bad" boys indeed!  What sweethearts...

Oh yeah, and ...  Iron Maiden was good!

Onto more shows!
